Oregon White Oak

Hasselblad Lumber Sales specializes in Oregon White Oak (Quercus Garryana).

Grades & Applications

Oregon White Oak is primarily graded as rough green lumber. The National Hardwood Lumber Association Grades for boxed heart timbers and plank serve as our basic grade guideline. We also grade for industrial blocking or for special-use grades.

We currently supply Oregon White Oak in dimensions up to 12" x 14" x 16', subject to log availability.

Oregon White Oak is a strong, closed-cell hardwood and is naturally resistant to rot or decay. This, combined with its high stress ratings, make it a good option to less dense hardwoods from other U.S. regions. It also is an affordable alternative to high-priced apitong or other exotic hardwoods.

Applications for which Oregon White Oak performs exceptionally well included the following:
  • Marine and dock timbers (picture 1, picture 2, picture 3) , deck planking and rub strips
  • Railroad blocking and wedges (picture 1, picture 2, picture 3, picture 4) for derailment or car repair
  • Railcar floor decking as a replacement for softwood or other oaks
  • Industrial dunnage and blocking
  • Truck decking
  • Cargo deck for barges and similar shipping vessels
  • Wedges, chocks and shims of all sizes
  • Mine timbers and "caps"
  • Lumber for skids and pallets which require extra strength and durability
  • Flooring and cabinet lumber when dried.
We actively look for unique and specialty orders and can provide shipment to any point in the U.S. or Canada.
